Dan Fuss, Vice Chairman of Loomis Sayles, Speaks to CFA Society of Milwaukee

Comments on market events of the past two years and his current economic outlook.

Milwaukee, WI — Wednesday, January 27, 2010.

Dan Fuss, a manager of the Loomis Sayles Flagship Bond fund, provided his insights on the challenges and opportunities in the financial markets and his outlook on the global economy at the January 27th Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Society of Milwaukee luncheon held at the Milwaukee Athletic Club.  According to Mr. Fuss, "the economy in the U.S. is clearly in recovery statistically, though not in terms of the number of jobs or upward pricing pressure on goods or services."

Mr. Fuss, a Pius High School and Marquette University alumni, is a member of the management team of the Loomis Sayles Bond fund which was recently named Morningstar's Fixed-Income Fund Manager of the Year and a member of the Fixed Income Analyst Society's Hall of Fame.  The topic of the luncheon, which was attended by nearly 200 CFAs and investment professionals, was Mr. Fuss' "2010 Market Outlook".

During his commentary, Mr. Fuss discussed the four "P's" which he believes will shape the financial markets and society as a whole in the coming years. He stated, "To be repetitious from previous years, there are four "P's".  It's peace, people, politics, and prosperity."  He continued by outlining the effects of peace and military spending on the bond market and the U.S. government deficit, of people on the intractable problem of old-age dependency and its impact on sovereign debt markets and global currencies, of politics on the restoration of liquidity to the market during the Financial Crisis of 2008, and of prosperity amidst the current global economic environment.

The monthly CFA Society of Milwaukee luncheons provide an opportunity for investment professionals, students, and interested parties to engage in a timely discussion of relevant events in the financial markets.

The CFA Society of Milwaukee promotes ethical and professional standards within the investment industry, encourages professional development through the CFA® Program, and facilitates the open exchange of information and opinions. The Milwaukee Society is a member of the CFA Institute, a global association of investment professionals promoting the highest ethical standards along with offering educational opportunities.
